The goal is confidence, not memorization
A first 3D printing class should teach a process you can repeat at home. Cosmic 3D Academy begins with how the printer, material and slicer work together. Students learn what each setting controls, which adjustments matter first and how to recognize a healthy print before hours of material are lost.
Classes are taught around real printers in our Del City shop, so students can see the sounds, movements and surface details that are difficult to understand from a video alone.
From digital model to sliced file
Students learn how a 3D model becomes machine instructions. That includes model orientation, support decisions, layer height, wall count, infill and the relationship between strength, surface quality and print time. We use practical examples in Orca Slicer and Bambu Studio rather than burying beginners in every advanced setting.
Printer preparation and the first layer
The first layer is where digital settings meet the physical machine. Students practice plate preparation, filament loading, safe nozzle handling and the visual signs of a first layer that is too high, too low or inconsistent. Understanding these signs prevents random adjustments later.
Materials, maintenance and safe habits
Beginners compare common materials and learn why the right choice depends on the part, printer and environment. The class also covers routine cleaning, nozzle care, filament storage and the difference between a normal adjustment and a problem that should stop the print.
- Paid Academy classes run Monday through Thursday at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
- Each paid session is limited to 10 students for hands-on attention.
- The Saturday Beginner Free Clinic runs from 10:00–11:30 AM with 20 seats.
- Private, family, group and school-session requests are also available through the enrollment form.
